Account Optional

Plonk works without an account for basic features. Optional Lotlsoft accounts unlock additional features like subscriptions, saved data, and personalized reports.

What We Store

When you use Plonk, we store:

• Account Identity - Your user ID from Lotl Auth is stored to associate your layouts with your account. Plonk does not store your email address - authentication is handled entirely by Lotl Auth (see its separate privacy policy).Stored on our server. Kept: until account deleted. Legal basis: contract (needed to run the service). Shared with: email provider.
• Room Layouts - Room layouts you create, including rooms, furniture arrangements, custom furniture templates, item positions, and room dimensions. This is the core content you create in the app.Stored on our server. Kept: until deleted by you. Legal basis: contract (needed to run the service).
• Layout Versions - Snapshot history of your layouts. Auto-saved every 5 minutes and when you manually save a version. Used to restore previous states. Maximum 50 versions per layout, oldest automatically pruned.Stored on our server. Kept: automatic pruning (max 50 per layout). Legal basis: contract (needed to run the service).
• Comments - Comments left on shared layouts. Includes the display name you provide, comment text, and optional pin position on the floor plan. Comments do not require an account - visitors enter a display name when commenting.Stored on our server. Kept: until deleted by layout owner or layout deletion. Legal basis: consent (you opted in). You choose whether to provide this.
• Demo Layouts - Layouts created in demo mode (no account required). Automatically deleted after 48 hours.Stored on our server. Kept: 48 hours. Legal basis: contract (needed to run the service).
• Usage Analytics - Anonymous analytics about how you use the app: page views, feature usage events (e.g. furniture placement, export actions, onboarding steps). No personally identifiable information is included. Collected via Lotl Observe.Stored on our server (Lotl Observe). Kept: 90 days. Legal basis: legitimate interests. Shared with: analytics processor.
• Error Reports - If the app encounters an error, we collect the error message and stack trace to help fix bugs. This does not include personal data.Stored on our server (Lotl Observe). Kept: 90 days. Legal basis: contract (needed to run the service).

Image Overlay

When you upload a floor plan image for tracing, it is stored on our server alongside your layout so it persists across sessions and devices. The image is only accessible to you (via your account) and is deleted when you remove the overlay or delete the layout. Overlay images are not shared via share links - only the room and furniture layout is visible to others.

Shared Layouts

When you share a layout, anyone with the share link can view it in read-only mode. Visitors can leave comments using a display name they provide - no account is required. As the layout owner, you can resolve or delete any comments.

Local Storage

Some data is stored locally in your browser and never sent to our servers. localStorage persists across reloads and tabs until you clear it:

• lotl_access_token / lotl_refresh_token - Authentication tokens for your signed-in session
• plonk_settings - UI preferences: theme (light/dark/system), units (metric/imperial), grid visibility, dimension display, compass orientation, furniture favorites, onboarding completion
• plonk_help_seen - Whether you have dismissed the keyboard shortcuts help overlay
• plonk_comment_name - Your display name for comments on shared layouts, so you do not have to re-enter it each time
• plonk_demo_id - Session storage: links to your temporary demo layout so it persists across page refreshes

You can clear this data anytime through your browser settings.

Cookies

We do not use cookies for tracking. We use localStorage to save preferences and sessionStorage during the sign-in process.

Analytics

We use our own privacy-focused analytics (Lotl Observe) to collect minimal anonymous usage data:

• Page views - Which pages are visited (no personal data)
• Anonymous identifiers - A random visitor ID to count unique visitors (not linked to your identity)
• Error reports - Technical errors for debugging (no personal data)

We do not use third-party analytics services like Google Analytics.

Third Parties

We do not sell or share your data. The only external services we use are:

• Lotl Auth for account authentication (email and password)
• Lotl Observe for anonymous analytics and error reporting

Your Rights

You can:

• Access your data (view within the app or export from account settings)
• Correct your data (update profile in account settings)
• Delete your data (from within the app)
• Withdraw consent (sign out and stop using the service)
